"Kennawash was a highly respected member of the Chippewa-Cree tribe of the Rocky Boy Reservation in Montana. In the morning Kennawash used to cry out and wake up the people. He told them to thank Manitou that they were able to get up again to another fine morning, that they could see and listen to the great sounds on a summer morning when the birds are singing... After announcing, he would sing a thankful song because he was very glad to see another good day."
